Dear Friends,
Happy Birthday to us! Rosemary Snapp, our wonderful historian and one of the founding members of the Friends of the Huachuca Mountains, reminded us that this year is our 20th anniversary! That’s twenty years of summer programs (207 of them, to be exact), twenty years of caring for the mountain treasure that is Carr House, and twenty years of promoting awareness of this special part of Arizona. We’re planning a 20th anniversary celebration later this fall, so be on the lookout for more information soon. We hope you’ll join us!
Program Notes: In addition to our regular schedule of Sunday afternoon programs at Carr House (details on page 2) we’ve added History Talks and Walks with Rosemary on July 16 and September 10 starting at 10 a.m.; Hikes with Mike on July 30 and August 27, starting at 9:30 a.m.; and the ever-popular Bug Night with Carl Olson on July 30 starting at 7:30 p.m. Put these dates on your calendar so you won’t miss them!
We went “batty” on July 10, with ten kids and about twenty young-at-heart adults enjoying a wonderful presentation about bats. Thanks so much to Pat Glow, retired teacher and former volunteer at Kartchner Caverns, along with her young assistants, for helping us learn that bats aren’t scary and are an important part of our ecosystem.
Thanks so much to Jane Chambers and Judy Phillips for putting together another great series of Sunday afternoon programs. Be sure to look at page 2 for information on programs for the remainder of the season. We hope to see you soon at Carr House!
