Dear Friends,

We are happy to announce that the Carr House Visitor Information Center will open its doors to guests on Saturday, May 22, at 9 a.m., and will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through November 28, 2021.  The house will also be open all three days of Memorial Day weekend, May 29-31, and all major holidays.  For visitor and staff safety, masks must be worn inside the house, and the number of people in the house will be limited to seven at a time.

Carr House Host Mike Foster will be on hand to greet visitors most weekends, but he’ll be taking some time off in the month of June.  John Broz will fill in while Mike is away, and we know he’ll do a fine job.

While you’re looking at exhibits and information in the house, be sure to note the photo and plaque dedicated to Dutch Nagle.  Dutch, a long-time resident of Sierra Vista as well as an avid birdwatcher and environmentalist, passed away last year.  We are honored that he remembered the Friends of the Huachuca Mountains with a generous bequest.

Our program series is still on hold, but we hope to be able to offer a few programs later in the summer.  We’ll be sure to let you know when they are scheduled.

If you love the outdoors and hiking in the beautiful Huachuca Mountains, learning about the amazing geology and mineral resources found in the area and the history of the early pioneers who settled in and made lives for themselves in Carr Canyon and surrounding areas, a visit to the Carr House is a must.  Bring the family and let the children explore our refurbished Discovery Room.  And pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on our shaded patio.

We hope to see you soon!
